Abstract
The aim of the current study was to explore the mediating role of rumination and negative affect in the relationship between childhood and adolescent trauma and dissociative symptoms in adolescents. The study was a descriptive correlational research. The population of this research included all male and female students of first and second secondary school that 360 of them were selected via multi-stage cluster sampling method and they were assessed by Rumination Questionnaire, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, Childhood Trauma Questionnaire and the Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES-II). Data analysis was done via path analysis by SPSS version 25 and AMOS version 24 software. Based on the results, the coefficients related to the indirect effect of childhood and adolescent trauma on dissociative symptoms through the mediating variables of rumination and negative affects are significant (p<0.05).Therefore, the research hypothesis based on the mediating role of rumination and negative affects in the relationship between childhood and adolescent trauma with dissociative symptoms is confirmed. The findings of the study is useful in providing suggestions for formulating appropriate interventions to lessen dissociative symptoms by reducing rumination and negative affects in adolescents influenced by childhood traumas.
