Objective: The present study aimed to examine the differences in self-compassion and alexithymia levels between two groups of adolescents with parental divorce experience and chronic parental conflict experience.
Methods: This was a causal-comparative study with a descriptive-analytic design. The statistical population consisted of all adolescent girls (with experiences of parental divorce and chronic parental conflict) in the second stage of high school who visited the Comprehensive Health Center in Ardabil city during the 2024-2025 academic year. From this population, 126 adolescents were selected through available sampling methods, with 63 having experienced parental divorce and 63 having experienced chronic parental conflict. Standard questionnaires of "Self-Compassion" and "Alexithymia" were used to collect the data. Data analysis was conducted using an ANOVA test. Results: The results revealed that adolescents with a history of chronic parental conflict reported lower levels of self-compassion and higher levels of alexithymia compared to the other group. Conclusion: These findings suggest that parental conflict can have significant psychological consequences for children during adolescence, emphasizing the need for targeted psychosocial interventions to support this group.
